We live a pretty busy life at the Fielding’s household. With four teenagers, Donald, our oldest and our triplet girls, Kyla, Gabriella (Gabi) and Marinee, there has being times when we were luck to see each other at the end of the day. But the one thing Clarke (my husband) and I always try hard to do is to have dinner together at “Our Home Table”.
It’s not always an elaborate meal but for the most part, it is a home cooked meal that I am hoping one way or another will create memories for our children. These times are always full of life. We spent most of the time talking about what happened during the day. Some days you even have to raise your hand to be able to add a word to the conversation.
These moments are so important to me because a lot of the memories I have today from growing up in a large family in Brazil comes from meals we shared. I will always remember going to my grandmother’s house on the weekend where the whole family (lots of cousins, uncles and aunties) would get together to share a delicious and very noisy meal. We don’t have too many pictures of that time, nor have I been able to find a recipe book to teach me how to cook all of those familiar dishes. But any time I talk about those times with my cousins, it brings some good stories.
I am hoping that through this blog, I will be able to leave my kids some of the memories and also some of the recipes for them to share with their own families one day. Because at the end of the day, all that matters is the memories that we share around “Our Home Table”.
